The Swinging Steaks initially formed in 1989 following the dissolution of the Drive, another Boston based band. Tim and Jim were frequent followers and guests at Drive shows and immediately were asked to join on with Paul and Jamie. Many a drummer has sat in the chair over the years, and some have gone on to greater success (John Sands with Aimee Mann and Laurie McKenna, and Craig MacIntyre with Josh Groban) but longest standing and current member Andy Plaisted replaced the frequently guesting Joe Donnelley (Del Fuegos and Capricorn era Steaks). Jamie met Steve on a cable tv show around 1995 amd Steve ended up joining the band some time later.
